About Pierre P. Mortemousque

Pierre P. Mortemousque began his journey in Tonneins, a quaint town in southern France. His life took a transformative turn at 18 when he ventured to the United States as a foreign exchange student. Immersed in a new culture at Parrott Academy in North Carolina, he refined his English skills and got acquainted with American traditions. His academic pursuits continued at Elon University, where he embraced academics and athletics, participating in soccer while majoring in Business Administration and minoring in Economics. By 1989, he was equipped with a degree and ready to dive into the professional world.

Upon returning to France, he embarked on a career with Sofrace, managing sales across the Middle East. From 1989 to 1992, he dedicated himself to understanding international sales dynamics, frequently traveling to the Emirates, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia. This phase was crucial for building his foundational professional relationships and understanding the nuances of global trade.

In 1992, after marrying, Mortemousque relocated to Lynchburg, Virginia. Here, he shifted gears professionally to teach French and Spanish at the Virginia Episcopal School. Besides teaching, he coached soccer, combining his passion for sports with his love for languages. His teaching stint lasted until 1996, enriching him with experiences outside the corporate sphere.

1996, he marked his entry into the footwear industry with Consolidated Shoe Company in Lynchburg. Over 13 years, he climbed the ranks from a sales executive to Vice President of Tradewinds Europe, delving deep into footwear design and sourcing. His focus primarily on off-price and branded retail channels honed his expertise in understanding market needs and fashion trends.

Driven by entrepreneurial zeal, Pierre P. Mortemousque founded his company, Pierre Inc., in 2009. This venture was not just a business but a culmination of years of industry experience. Based in Lynchburg, his company specializes in designing and manufacturing footwear that caters to the specific needs of large U.S. retailers, focusing on off-price and branded channels for women’s and children’s shoes. Despite global challenges like rising labor costs and tariffs, he adeptly steered his company through turbulent times, ensuring its growth and stability.
